CGS Conference
Each year CGS hosts a conference to highlight relevant
issues in a Bangladeshi and global context.
Between 2010 and 2012 we held a series of 3 conferences on Environmental Challenges, Global Inequalities and Technology
for a Sustainable World. Our 2013 conference coincides with our 20th birthday and we
have chosen the theme of ‘Heroes’.
Conference Theme Each of us has the potential to be a ‘Hero’
and raise himself / herself to reach new
heights and thereby lift the lives of
people who come in contact with
him / her.
We will explore the characteristics,
traits and qualities that make a hero.
Through discussions, keynote
speeches and activities we expect to
better understand how ‘Heroes’ emerge
within our society. We hope to prepare ourselves
to become heroes through
thorough self-reflection and sharing of stories of heroism;
essentially discover the hero that lies within us.
In addition, we will celebrate the ‘Heroes’ of CGS, of
Bangladesh and indeed the World over the last 20 years.
The conference will host keynote speakers who have made a
mark as a hero in our society. It will facilitate discussions on the
theme and will have Barazza and Reika group meetings and an
adventure day trek. We will also build larger than life-sized ‘Hero’
sculptures and have quizzes, poster sessions and paint a ‘Heroes’
mural.
