We are pleased to offer your school a provisional and conditional invitation to send a delegation to the Sixth Annual Session of THIMUN-Singapore to be held at the SALT Centre on the campus of the
Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore from the 23rd - 27th November 2010.
Opportunity to bring more delegates to THIMUN-Singapore by joining the
Youth Assembly
Youth Assembly (YA) continues to grow in strength and relevance at THIMUN-Singapore. At this Sixth annual session the YA will be developing real and substantial programs of action to promote
good goveance, and to promote political awareness and participation.
Only on the YA can delegates represent their own ideas. The YA delegate does not represent a govement, or even the
voice of youth generally. The YA delegate represents themselves as a young person dealing with meaningful issues.
The job of YA is to tackle the topics and to come up with a program of action that they themselves could / can actually put into affect. For example, on the topic of water sanitation a YA committee could produce a action paper of recycling, filtration, and an
educational program addressed to young people at schools on how they can make a positive difference to water cleanliness.
For the topics on this year''s YA delegates might look at creating an educational program for schools, a series of TV spots, brochures, an educational-advertising campaign, just for some examples.
YA is a forum at which participants are really in charge of the agenda and can really produce a product (the Action Paper) of substantial worth that can be put into immediate affect. Well done Action Papers can and do have a life beyond the conference as the delegates retu to their home communities to put the AP into affect.
At this point we can still accept quite a few applications for delegates to YA. This is a good way for more of your students to be able to participate at THIMUN-Singapore beyond your normal delegation assignments.
Fill out the YA application form and retu to the THIMUN office as per normal. The new due date for these applications will be 03 September 2010.
YA is recommended for the experienced MUNer who is a dynamic self-motivator.
